- Other Details: A locum Physician Assistant is needed in General Surgery to cover 14 shifts per 28-day period, each lasting 24 hours (12 hours on-site, 12 hours on-call). Responsibilities include inpatient care such as rounding on post-op patients, ED and inpatient consults, assisting in the OR, and managing clinic follow-ups. The PA will work alongside two physicians (including an eGS acute surgicalist) and two other APPs, with supervision provided by the acute surgicalist. The facility features full support, including clinical and ancillary staff, exam and procedure rooms, medical imaging, lab, and pharmacy services. The role focuses primarily on trauma, inpatient, and consult coverage, with minimal clinic volume, and serves a hub hospital that supports 16 surrounding counties and a population of over 200,000. EPIC is used for EMR, and teaching opportunities are available through internal medicine and family medicine residency programs. Services provided include laparoscopic, open, and robotic surgery, endoscopy, clinic consults, follow-ups, and trauma call coverage. Candidates must be Board Certified and hold an active Iowa license or active compact license.

* Comfortable working under supervision of a General Surgery eGS acute surgicalist
* Familiarity with EPIC EMR
Working Hours: * 14 shifts per 28-day period

* Includes coverage of nights and weekends as needed
